Windle McClendon, 84, of Wilkinson, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at Glen Oaks Health Campus in New Castle following a long battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born May 16, 1933, in Vinnie, Kentucky to the late Arvil & Lucy (Carrender) McClendon. He retired from Delco Remy, Plant 20 in 1992 after 32 years of service. Windle was a member of the Shirley-Wilkinson Community United Methodist Church. He enjoyed time with his family and friends, also tinkering with anything outside and his cats. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruth (Haynes) McClendon; two daughters, Dawn (Scott) Hardy and Connie (Ray) McCormick of Shirley; four sisters-in-law; five grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Edward, Earl, Furl & Eugene McClendon; one sister, Marie “Sissy”; two brothers-in-law; and two sisters-in-law. Windle will be remembered as a hard worker with a good work ethic that he passed down. He would help anyone with anything they needed. Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, December 30 at Condo & St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, with Doug Hardy officiating. Burial will be at McCray Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the The Alzheimer’s Foundation or to the SWUMC Choir.
