Wilma Bodenhorn

Wilma Bodenhorn, 89, Lapel, died peacefully Friday morning, surrounded by her family. She was born on February 21, 1926, in Lapel, Indiana to George and Edith (Conner) Reddick. She graduated from Lapel High School in 1944 and was a lifelong resident of Lapel until she moved to Muncie in 2007. Wilma worked at the former Delco Remy division of General Motors in Anderson prior to raising her family. In the 1970's and 1980's, she was the editor of The Lapel Review newspaper. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapel. Her hobbies included sewing and cooking. Wilma had a great sense of humor and loved playing pranks on her children's unsuspecting spouses. She was always available to help and assist those in need. She is survived by three children, Tim (wife, Carol) Bodenhorn of Sidney, OH, Chris (wife, Lisa) Bodenhorn of Vestal, NY, and Lisa (husband, Tom) Davis of Muncie; seven grandchildren, Justin Bodenhorn, Ryan Bodenhorn, Ethan Bodenhorn, Lauren (husband, Zach) Matchett, Taylor Davis, Chandler Davis, and Conner Davis; two great-granddaughters, Corinne Bodenhorn and Mackenzie Bodenhorn; one sister, Doris Barker of Lapel; and two sisters-in-law, Charlotte Fabian of Lapel and Olive Reddick of Anderson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 56 years, Charles Bodenhorn; a brother Bud Reddick; a brother, Hilbert Reddick; a sister, Marilyn (husband, Willis) Gernand; and a brother-in-law, Jack Barker. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, Monday, June 1, 2015, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel. A graveside service will follow at Brookside Cemetery, Lapel with Pastor Zach Matchett Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 606, Lapel, Indiana 46051-0606.
