William Vinson "Bill" Keffer, 81, Lapel, passed away Friday, February 6, 2015, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis following an extended illness. He was born on November 1, 1933, in Anderson, Indiana to Ronald and Rhesa (Ankrum) Keffer. He graduated from Anderson High School in 1951 and was a U. S. Army veteran who was stationed in Korea and California. Bill retired in 1990 from the former Guide Lamp division of General Motors in Anderson after over 37 years of employment and had also been employed at one time at Perfecto Manufacturing and Connor Prairie. He was a member of the Lapel American Legion Post 212. He enjoyed working on his treasured log cabin home; fishing in Minnesota; and traveling with his wife. Bill also did a lot of genealogy research. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joyce (Wise) Keffer; three daughters, Deanna (husband, Brent) Beach of Nevis, MN, Amy (husband, Paul) Winks of Lafayette, and Betsy (husband, Aaron) Hampton of Lapel; ten grandchildren, William Beach, Matthew (wife, Allison) Beach, John Winks (partner, Amanda Treece), Libby Winks (fiance, Blake Cain), Patrick Beach (fiance, Emily Erickson), Kathryn Beach (partner, Ross Karvonen), Barry Winks, Aubree Cameron, Spencer Hampton, and Cassidy Hampton; seven great-grandchildren, Max Livengood, Lukas Thomas, Blane Morris, Liam Parker-Winks, Isaac Cain, Nicholas Billman, Adley Beach; a step-brother, Gary Britton; a brother-in-law, Dick Harry; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three siblings, Rosemary Zion, Ronald (Ed) Keffer, Marilyn Harry, and brother-in-law, George Zion. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
