William Robert "Bob" Snyder, 84, Lapel, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2006, at his residence following a one year illness.
He was born on November 23, 1921, in Lapel, Indiana to William and Leta (Miller) Snyder. Bob was a 1939 Lapel High School graduate and he served in the South Pacific in the United States Marine Corps during WWII where he was awarded the bronze star. He retired as a product engineer from Guide Division of General Motors in 1979 after 34 years of employment. He was a member of the Ford Street United Methodist Church, the Indiana State Historical Society, the Brown County Historical Society and the Lapel Jubilee Chorus. He is survived by his wife, Cindy (Fleming) Snyder; two daughters, Susan K. (husband, Thomas) Tudor of Lapel, and Jackie (husband, David) Stephenson of Lapel; his foreign exchange daughter, Isabel Zahn Muller of Weissbaden, Germany; one sister, Norma Upton of Lapel; two brothers, Myron (wife, Helen) Snyder of Lapel, and Paul (wife, Linda) Snyder of Noblesville; six grandchildren, Jennifer (husband, Scot) Hawkins, Eliza (husband, Lance) Tudor-Sykes, Adam (wife, Dawn) Tudor, Christopher Tudor, Claudia Schmal, and Oliver Schmal, Anna Hawkins, and Hadley Hawkins. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Margaret Blake, Becky Cupp, and Kathleen Bell; two brothers, Charles Snyder, and Donald Eugene Snyder; and three grandchildren, Joshua Tudor, Joseph Tudor, and Emily Stephenson. Services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday at Ford Street United Methodist Church in Lapel with Rev. Mark Helm officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside Cemetery in Lapel. Friends may call from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM Sunday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ford Street United Methodist Church, P. O.
