William Paul Cecil

July 15, 1929 — January 31, 2009

William P. Bill Cecil, 79, Anderson, formerly of Lapel, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2009, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville following a brief illness.
He was born on July 15, 1929, in Fortville, Indiana to Emil and Nellie Cecil.
He graduated from Noblesville High School in 1948.
Bill retired in 1992 from Detroit Diesel Allison in Indianapolis after 42 years of employment as a skilled machinist.
He was a member of Ford Street United Methodist Church, and a former member of the Lapel Masonic Lodge No. 625, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, and the Murat Temple Shrine. He was an avid golfer and a life-long IU basketball fan
He is survived by his wife Cheryl (Stinson) Cecil; three sons, Bill (wife, Susan) Cecil, Scott Cecil, and Paul Cecil all of Lapel; one brother, Max (wife, Margaret) Cecil of Muncie; and one granddaughter, Bailee Cecil.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mary Lou (Hormell) Cecil; two sisters, Norma Devol, and Juanita Butler.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, February 3, 2009, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Mark Helm officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Fishers.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday, February 2, 2009, and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ford Street United Methodist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 626, Lapel, Indiana; the Lapel Food Pantry, C/O Ford Street United Methodist Church; or the charity of the donor's choice.
