Ed (Eddie) Shaw, 88, passed away on January 6, 2023 at home, surrounded by his loved ones.
He served in the Army. He was a cabinet maker and Salvation Army Camp Caretaker, before working for the City of Anderson as a meter reader. He then transferred to the Waste Water Treatment Plant, where he retired. Ed was a member of the Salvation Army and later in life, was a member of 6th Street Christian Church in Middletown, IN. He was an avid woodworker and could repair just about anything. Involved in the BSA for over fifty years, Ed mentored numerous boys, including his son (Troop 215) and four grandsons (Troop 232), all of whom became Eagle Scouts.
He is survived by his son, Paul E. Shaw; daughter, Dawn M. (Billy) Parks; 4 grandsons, Brandon (Kathleen) Parks, Scott (Rachelle) Shaw, Brent (Kaitlyn) Parks, and Todd Shaw; 4 great-grandchildren, Alexa and Oliver Shaw and Benjamin and Elliott Parks; sister, Dolores “Dee” (Shaw) Haston; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Barbara J. (George) Shaw; father, Jasper A. Shaw; mother, Nettie (Knauss) Shaw; and brother, Clarence G. Shaw.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory. The visitation will run from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place in Pleasant Walk Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Foundation.
