William D. Sutton, 96, of Anderson, passed away November 22, 2016 at St Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital after several years of fighting lung cancer. He was born January 31, 1920, in Rockville to the late Charles and Mary Edna (Osborne) Sutton. He graduated from Rockville High School in 1938, entered the US Marine Corp. He served from 1942 to 1945 as a C47 airplane mechanic in Samoa, Gilbert and Marshall Islands. Bill worked for the National Biscuit Co. and sold Equitable Life Insurance. For 34 years he was a salesman at Regenold Pontiac and Bob Myers Buick. He was a member of the VFW, Ameican Legion, Elks of Madison County and the Madison County Shrine Club. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 70 years, Thelma L. (Noble) Sutton, married in April of 1946; two daughters, Lynda (John) Sutton Pauley, of South Vienna, OH; Jan E. (Don) Sutton Nicholas of Anderson; grandsons, Brad (Julie) Lehr and William J. (Lori) Lehr, both of Anderson; 4 step grandchildren; great grandchildren, Kyle, Devon and Ella Lehr and eight step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Shelley Collins. The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, and caregivers for their special care of William. A Masonic Service will be held at 2:15, Saturday, followed by the funeral service at 2:30 p.m. at the Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Chaplin Don White officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Walk Cemetery. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service. Donations may be made to the Madison County Shrine Club, St Vincent Hospital or a charity of choice.
