Rev. William Bill Soetenga

Rev. William (Bill) Soetenga Bill died October 11th, at his home in Anderson, Indiana. He is the oldest child of Andrew and Marion (Paulson) and was born July 3, 1938 in Racine, Wisconsin. He was married to the former Janet Lehner on June 6, 1959. Janet and Bill were blessed with four children, John (Tami) Soetenga, Karen Pettigrew, Peter Soetenga, and Kathy (April) Soetenga and six grandchildren, Brady, Taylor (Alex), Jordan, Tristen, Austin, and Devin. Responding to a call to the Pastoral ministry, he and Janet moved to Portland, Oregon, where Bill pursued training for ministry at Warner Pacific College. His pastoral calling took him to Marion, S.D., Madison, Wisconsin, and Anderson Indiana where he eventually furthered his training at Anderson School of Theology. His last point of service was at The West Anderson Church of God retiring on August 1, 2003. He enjoyed singing, traveling with his wife, fishing, and the loyalty and love of many friends. He often expressed his indebtedness to God for his family and the friends that shared the path of life with him. His life exemplified the call found in the book of Micah; to seek justice, love mercy and walk humbly with your God. Surviving him are his wife, four children, six grand children, brother Tim (Pam) Soetenga, sisters Louise (Tom) Teague, and Joan (Jan) Hage, and treasured extended family and loyal friends. Preceding him in death were his father Andrew Soetenga, mother Marion Pricher, and brother Jonathan Soetenga. A time of visitation will be held on October 25th from 4:00 to 7:00pm in the Bessie Byrum Lounge, Park Place Church of God. A memorial service will take place on October 26th at 11:00am with visitation with family at 10:00am. The Service will also to be held at Park Place Church of God with Pastor Markle officiating. Internment of cremains will take place at Maplewood Cemetery following the service. The family would like to suggest that Memorial gifts be given to the Food Pantry at Park Place Church of God, 501 College Drive, Anderson, Indiana, 46012.
