Wilfred E. "Bud" McDonald, 88, Cicero, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2012, at Riverwalk Commons in Noblesville following a brief illness. He was born on May 1, 1924, in Hancock County, Indiana to Edward and Lois (Manship) McDonald. He graduated from McCordsville High School in 1942. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II where he served with the 40th Mechanized Reconnaissance Troup in the Philippines and received a purple heart. Bud retired in 1990 from Reynolds Farm Equipment and was a licensed minister. He was a member of Prairie Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Barbara E. (Shaffer) McDonald; three children, Marsha (husband, Terry) Murray of Cicero, Sharon (husband, Bob) Webb of Noblesville, and Ron (wife, Teri) McDonald of Cicero; one brother, Jack (wife, Marilyn) McDonald of Silver Lake; nine grandchildren, Larry (wife, Miere) Webb, Gary (wife, Fida) Webb, Pete (wife, Chris) Thomas, Jason (wife, Monica) McDonald, Chad (wife, Jennifer) Webb, Christopher (wife, Dena) Murray, Scot Webb, Syd (wife, Callie) McDonald, and Brooke (husband, Matt) Tredwell; ten great-grandchildren; great-great-granddaughter; and many special friends including the staff and residents of Riverwalk Commons, especially Bob, Roland, and Russ all fellow veterans. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his second father, Sampson McDonald. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Monday, June 11, 2012, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Pastor Stephen Passmore officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm Sunday, June 10, 2012, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
