Wilfred E. “Willy” Beher, 96, passed away on Tuesday, Feb 24, 2015, at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital, following a brief illness.
He was born November 11, 1918 in Anderson to the late Grover Cleveland and Florence Hannah (Catt) Beher, in the same house where he raised his family.
Willy worked for 46 years as a fork truck operator and stockman at Guide Lamp, retiring in 1981. He coached Babe Ruth Little League throughout the 1960’s and loved to play golf. Every year he went to the Jack Nicklaus Memorial Tournament in Columbus, OH to “watch the big boys hit the ball”. He was a member of First Friends Church.
Willy is survived by his children, David Beher of Anderson, Linda Farrar of Indianapolis and Debbie (Kenneth) Kraay of Anderson; grandchildren, Bryan (Renee) McDaniel, Carrie (Zane) Brown, Zachary (fianc�e, Grace Enslein) Kraay, Jennifer (Mike) Jackson and Ashley Farrar; great-grandchildren, Samantha, Kate, Brooklyn, Lauren and Kris; and niece, Nancy Maddy.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty J. Beher, and son-in-law, Dr. Stephen Farrar.
Services will be at 1pm Saturday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Pastor David Steinke officiating. Burial will be at Anderson Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Lung Association.
