Wendell J. Clark

Wendell J. Clark, 94, Anderson, passed away May 1, 2017, at Community Hospital of Anderson after an extended illness. He was born July 16, 1922, in Dexter, MO, the son of the late Roy L. and Revah M. (Blackburn) Clark. He served in the US Marines and retired in 1977 from Guide Lamp after 35 years; he was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and drove a school bus for St. Mary’s School for several years. Wendell was a member of the UAW-CIO Local #663 and played softball on the GM Leagues. He and his wife loved to take day trips together, he was an avid bowler and also enjoyed rabbit hunting and bass fishing. He is survived by his children, Ronald Lee Clark of Henderson, TN, Donald J. Clark and special friend, Connie Shellabarger of Anderson, Daniel LeRoy Clark and special friend, Sharon Redman of Anderson, Rebecca Lynn Clark of Anderson, Dennis Keith (Melonie) Clark of Osceola, In, his daughter-in-law, Edith Clark of Fritch, TX; eleven grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; an identical twin brother, Lindell L. Clark and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nettie M. Clark; his son, Michael Ray Clark; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Clark and one brother, Jack Clark. A special thanks to Miller’s Merry Manor of Chesterfield and the staff of Community Hospital ICU for all their care and concerns. Service will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Monsignor Robert Sell officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors conducted by the United States Marine Corp and the Daleville American Legion Post # 446. Friends may call from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Friday at the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Mounds Detachment Marine Corps League Toys for Tots.
