Wayne L. Valentine, Sr.

Wayne L. Valentine, Sr., age 73, of Upland, IN gained his angel wings on Saturday, January 25, 2025 in his home. He was born on March 8, 1951 in Anderson, IN.

Wayne graduated from Pendleton High School in 1969 and then served in the Vietnam War as an MP (Military Police) from September 4, 1971 to April 17, 1972. He then joined the National Guard and served from June 1974 to June 1981. Wayne worked and retired from General Motors after 38 years of service. Wayne also volunteered his time as a reserve officer at Madison County Sheriff's Department for 1 year in 1979 and again at Grant County Sheriff's Department for 13 years, from 1990-2003.

Wayne truly was a great man, husband, dad, and friend. He loved Corvettes (he had 30 total in his lifetime!) and airplanes and airshows. Deer hunting with his kids and grandkids brought him immense joy. Working in his garage and building projects were another passion of his. Wayne was a huge fan of White Castle and Barnyard Potatoes! He enjoyed watching old shows, Westerns, and some modern shows too. Wayne knew no stranger and made friends everywhere he went. He will be so deeply missed by all who knew him.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carol Valentine; son, Wayne (Jenny) Valentine, Jr.; daughter, Angela (Chad) (Valentine) Poe; grandchildren, Alina, Emily, Delaina, Abby, Brooklyn, and Rope; two brothers, Doyle and Dean Valentine; two aunts, Irene and Doris; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Valentine and Florence (Lawrence) Valentine; son, Kevin J. Valentine; step-brother, Darwin Gibson; three uncles; and three aunts.

The visitation for Wayne will be Thursday, January 30, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Bozell Funeral Homes-Lahm Chapel, 211 E. State Street, Pendleton, IN 46064. Another brief visitation will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM with the funeral ceremony following at 12 PM at the funeral home. The burial will take place in Mendon Cemetery. Wayne's services have been entrusted to Bozell Funeral Homes.
