Warren Kent Huntzinger

Warren K. Huntzinger, died peacefully on August 10, 2018. He was a lifelong resident of Madison County. He was born on May 25, 1931.
He graduated from Lapel High School. He received a Bachelors Degree in Agricultural Economics from Purdue University in 1953. He married Nancy Joan Campbell on October 10, 1954. Warren served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Following the war he earned his pilots license through the GI bill. He worked for the John Deere Co. then as a salesman at Reynolds Farm Equipment in Fishers Indiana. He initially began farming with his brother, Ronald Huntzinger, and continued to farm for all of his life. He also pursued a number of other careers including seed corn sales and soil testing with Brookside Laboratories. He started a real estate company and developed several subdivisions including Ryan Drive, Hickory Hills in Pendleton, and Ulen Estates in Boone County. He loved farming and agronomy, was the ultimate salesman and lived to negotiate good deals.
He thoroughly enjoyed Purdue University. After his graduation he held season tickets for both mens basketball and football games for all of his life. He and his wife also supported Purdue University in many other ways. He enjoyed playing cards with the "Euchre Club". He traveled all over the world visiting places as varied as Europe, China, Russia, New Zealand, Australia, South America, Africa and many islands in between. He supported a pastors school now located in Zambia, Africa. He founded the Kafakumba Pastors School Foundation to provide permanent financing for that Pastors School which trains native Africans as ministers to spread the Word of the Lord in Africa. Following his entrepreneurial spirit, he supported development in Zambia including honey manufacturing, a wood working shop, and various forms of sustainable agriculture to improve the economic situation in Africa. His most recent project was to sponsor two young Zambians education at Purdue University so they could then return to Africa to make improvements for the country of Zambia.
Warren is survived by his wife, Nancy (Campbell) Huntzinger; his four children, Lynne (Huntzinger) Lawyer (spouse Mike Lawyer); Joseph K. Huntzinger and his children Julie and Tyler Huntzinger; John A. Huntzinger (spouse, Dr. Bogie Kopczynski) and Johns children, Bradley Huntzinger (spouse Dr. Anneliese (Rupp) Huntzinger), Brian Huntzinger and Blake Huntzinger; and James R. Huntzinger and his children, Garek and Quinlan Huntzinger.
The family wants to thank Dr. Stephen Wright and the nurses at Community Hospital, Anderson. Also, Warrens oncologist, Dr. Rafat Abonour (who is researching to find a cure for multiple myeloma and the rare leukemia which Warren battled) and his nurses and staff for their wonderful care.
Warren was proceeded in death by his parents Walter Hamilton Huntzinger and Esther (Teeters) Huntzinger, and all three of his brothers: V. Ronald Huntzinger, Neill W. Huntzinger and Wendall L. Huntzinger.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, August 16, 2018, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel with Pastor Doug Barton officiating. Burial will follow in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday the funeral home.
