Wanda J. Spurlin, 81, of Anderson, passed away Sept, 19, 2014, at St Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital following a sudden illness.
She was born Oct. 10, 1932, in Twinton, Tenn., the daughter of the late Hobert and Nora (Threet) Gibson and has been an Anderson resident since 1953. She had worked at the National Tile for 12 years and then retired from RCA in Marion after 22 years of employment. She was a devoted member of the Eastside House of Prayer in Irondale and a gracious, loving person who delighted in her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son; Ronnie (wife Lotheda) Spurlin; grandchildren, Travis (wife Michelle) Spurlin, Tonya Charlton and Krystal Johnston and McKinzie Arnold; great- grandchildren, Paige, Morgan,Gage, Ellie Spurlin, Kurstyn and Skylor Johnston and Jonah Arnold; nephew, Donnie Whitehead; nieces, Susan Callahan and Debbie Lane and other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Spurlin; a daughter, Patricia Spurlin; sister, Myrtle Whitehead and a brother and sister in law, Hobart Gibson Jr.and Bobbye Gibson.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service and Crematory, 515 East 53rd. St., with Pastor Jimmy Boicourt officiating. Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 – 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
