Walter J. Henderson

May 14, 1927 — June 23, 2017

Walter J. Henderson, 90, of Anderson, went home to be with the Lord, June 23, 2017. He was born, May 14, 1927, in Chicago, the only child of the late Alexander and Eleanor (Brown) Henderson. Though Walter has been blind for over 35 years, he has lived a full rewarding life. He has been a loving husband to Marilyn, recently celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary. He has also been a loving dad to his three children, encouraging and supporting them in all their endeavors. Being a spiritual leader for his family and his church has also been important to him. In his career, he helped to develop the new field of nuclear medicine, both as a nuclear physicist in research and in teaching. Along with serving the Lord and others, Walter has enjoyed traveling to foreign countries, helping to develop a church library, sharing math skills and using many new technologies that have benefited the visually impaired. We know with confidence that Walter is in Heaven and can now really see Jesus and many others who have gone before him. We celebrate in that truth. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Henderson; children, Steven ( Janeil) Henderson, Susan ( Bill) Adams and Dave (Georgi) Henderson; grandchildren, Kathryn (Jeffrey) DeYoung, Elisabeth (Jonathan) Henderson Haas, Kelsey (Lenny) Crosson, Katie Adams, Allison Henderson, Andy (Kristy ) Henderson; great grandchildren, Micah and Hudson Crosson. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Pastor Doug Stein officiating. Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 2:30 to 5 pm at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Shiloh Youth Ranch, 10655 Roseland Rd, Sebastian, FL 32958.
