W. Eloise Hunter

February 8, 1926 — December 10, 2018

W. Eloise Hunter, 92, Lapel, passed away Monday, December 10, 2018, at Community Heart and Vascular Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was born on February 8, 1926, in Madison County to Ralph G. and M. Louise (Huntzinger) Smethers.
Eloise was graduated from Lapel High School.
She retired from the former Fort Benjamin Harrison Army Finance Center and in later years had worked at Connor Prairie.
Eloise was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and was an active member of the Trinity Lunch Bunch.
She is survived by two sons, Jim (Terri) Prather and Paul Hunter (Tracy Fowler); three grandchildren, Stacie (Ron) DelaCuesta, Annie (Jeremy) Stow, and Jacob Hunter; five great-grandchildren, Logan Woods, Dylan McCormick, Brennan, AnnaLee, and Griffen Stow; and one sister, Irma (Jack) Hughes.
Eloise was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Karl Prather and Hugh Hunter; two brothers, Don and Keith Smethers; and a sister, Rachel Russell.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, December 15, 2018, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel with Pastor Glenn Knepp officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
