Virginia Maggart Bever

Virginia Maggart, 83, Lapel, passed away Saturday September 7, 2002, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis following a brief illness. She was born on September 15, 1918, in Maryland to Leland and Olga (DeLawter) Woodward. She was a 1936 Lapel High School graduate and had farmed with her husband for many years. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Indiana and International Flying Farmers, the 99s, the Lapel Lady Lions, the Beechcraft Aero Club. She also had belonged to several craft and ceramic clubs. In 1957 she flew in the Powder Puff race and she had been active in several Ballroom Dancing competitions. She is survived by her son, Neal Maggart of Lapel; three grandchildren, Sherri (husband, Tony) Wood of Lapel, Betty (husband, Randy) Busby of Anderson, and Glen Maggart (fiance, Chris Mixell) of Lapel; six great grandchildren, Matthew Wood, Megan Wood, Kaitlynn Wood, Tristan Maggart, Logan Maggart, and Kelsie Busby. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Judy K. Maggart in 1951, her first husband, Newell C. Maggart in 1986 and her second husband, Frances Bever. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Evan Lash officiating. Burial will be at the Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 606, Lapel, Indiana 46051.
