Virginia “Jinny” Callaway, 100, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2022 at her residence.
She was born on August 27, 1922 in Anderson, IN to the late Herbert and Esther (Whistler) Johnson. Virginia worked for 23 years for the West Central Community School Corporation as the Secretary to Superintendent, as well as working for the Madison County Courthouse.
During Virginia’s life she enjoyed many things in her life. Those including attending church at St. Mathews to worship her lord and savior. She also enjoyed butterflies, golfing, flowers, her sweets, politics, and going to the horse races for the Pre-Derby. The family would also like to go give a big thank you to Theresa Spence, Bertha Phipps, Mil Liggin, and Laura Rich for helping take care of Virginia.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Kristi Callaway Worley; special cousins, Joanne, Marsha, Karen, and several other special cousins and friends who loved her, and very special person “Moe”. She was preceded in death by her loving husband William Callaway; son, Steven Callaway, and her parents.
Visitation will be held on November 16, 2022 from 11 – 1 pm at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory. Service will begin at 1 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Maplewood Cemetery following the service.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
