Mr. Virgil Ray Mccord

Virgil Ray McCord, 74, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Community Hospital in Anderson. Virgil was born on March 28, 1944, in Elwood to Virgil W. & Mary A. (Shrock) McCord. He retired from the City of Anderson. Virgil is survived by his wife, Della (Sparks) McCord; five children, Nicole (Matt) Blair, Virgil (Shelly) McCord, Jr., Brad (Christy) McCord, Kevin (Heather) McCord, & Kelly (George) O’Bryant; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Hazel Carpenter; three brothers, Frank (Kathy) McCord, Charlie (Brenda) McCord, & Ernie (Phyllis) McCord; brother-in-law, Richard (Inez) Bess. He was preceded in death by both parents; eight siblings; granddaughter, Verena; and great grandson, Leo. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, with Pastor Luke St. Clair officiating. Burial will be at East Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until time of services at the funeral home.
