Victor "Ray" Raymond Smith, 91, of Anderson passed away on October 12, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Ray was born on May 11, 1933, in Livingston, TN to the late Dewey and Erma (Garrett) Smith. He married the love of his life, Patsy Harper, on January 18, 1957, and the two were married for 67 years. Ray faithfully served our country in the United States Army. After his honorable discharge, he began working at Delco-Remy and was there for 37 years before his retirement. Ray found his spiritual home at Columbus Avenue Church of Christ and was a faithful member for many years, also serving as a Deacon. He loved to garden, work on lawn mowers, cars, and build barns and garages well into his 80's. Most importantly, he loved his family and never missed his grandchildren's school functions.
Victor will be dearly missed by his wife, Patsy; children, Debra Hart, Danny (Vickie) Smith, and Denise Smith; grandchildren, Brett (Kelly) Hart, Alyssa (Charlie) Miller, Holly (Willie) Smith, Dustin Hawkins, Austin Hawkins, Drew (Cameron) Henderson, and Mariah (Caleb) Taylor; seven great-grandchildren, Naomi Hart, Michael Hart, Theodore Miller, Lilliana Hart, Eleanor Henderson, Barron Henderson, and Dean Taylor; brother, Elzie Q. Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Walter Garrett, Alonzo Keen Smith, Chester Wayne Smith, Ida Mae Clark, Willie Herbert Smith, Betty Faye Johnson, and Steven Leroy Smith.
The visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Friday, October 18, 2024, at Bozell Funeral Homes- Brown-Butz-Diedring Chapel, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson, IN 46013. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM at the funeral home. The burial will take place in East Maplewood Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Ray’s name may be gifted to the Columbus Avenue Church of Christ. Ray’s services have been entrusted to Bozell Funeral Homes.
