Vickie J. Bennett, 61, Plainfield, passed away Monday, January 21, 2013, at her home following an extended illness. She was born on February 7, 1951, in Anderson, Indiana to Leland and Betty (Jones) Stewart. She graduated from Lapel High School in 1969 and received a bachelor's degree in education from Purdue University and a master's degree in education from Ball State University. Vickie began teaching at Hamilton Heights Schools and retired in 2011 from Mill Creek Community Schools where she taught 7th and 8th grade learning disabled students for 32 years. She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Terry Bennett; two sons, Tom (wife, Jennifer) Bennett of Houston, TX, and Tony (wife, Tammy) Bennett of Wilmington, NC; and four grandchildren, Micala, Cade, Callie, and Madison; and several cousins including Bob Jones of Dallas, TX, Rich Jones of Chicago,IL, Dennis (wife, Barbara) Rone of Ohio, and Sherry (husband, Mike) of Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Mr. John Graves officiating. Burial will follow in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
