Vernona Lou Reed

Vernona Lou Reed, 79, Anderson, passed away May 21, 2018, at Community Hospital in Anderson. She was born July 13, 1938 in Anderson and lived with her parents Dick and Jane Reed. She had lived in Anderson her whole life and attended Park Place Elementary School and later had a private tutor. After the death of her father, Vernona continued to live at home with her mother becoming her primary caregiver. In 1989 she began working at the Anderson Herald Newspaper retiring in 1996. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and an avid car racing fan. Vernona was eager to learn, an avid walker, was funny with a good sense of humor and a devoted friend to many. She is survived by her niece, Nancy (Laurence) Wilkow of Deer Park, NY; great niece and nephew, Nicole Wilkow and Matthew Wilkow; her special church friends, Marcia Shrenker and Barbara Perry and all her friends at Hopewell Center and First Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond A. (Dick) and Jane L. Reed and one brother, Robert L. Reed. Service will be at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Donna Madewell officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or the Hopewell Center.
