V. Robert Norris, 98, of Anderson passed away on November 19, 2021 at Riverwalk Village in Noblesville. Robert was born on July 4, 1923 in Anderson to Ernest and Katherine (Robinson) Norris. Robert graduated from Anderson High School in 1942 and shortly after, enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and faithfully served our country as a Master Sargent in the VMF314 Unit known as the “Wildcats” where he fought in Midway and Okinawa during World War II. Robert married the love of his life, Betty Jo Frossard, on November 8, 1945. He graduated from the police academy in 1946 and served as a police officer for the city of Anderson. Later he owned and operated Bob Norris Excavating and retired in 1988 after 48 1/2 years. Robert was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. He found his spiritual home at St. Ambrose Catholic Church and was a faithful member for many years. Robert served as the past President for the Land Improvement and Contractors of Indiana. Robert will be dearly missed by his children, John Rick Norris of Pendleton, Janet (Brad) Willoughby of Gulf Shores, Alabama; Mary “Kathy” (Bill) House of Cicero; his grandchildren, Heather (Mark) Combs, Robert (Mickie) Willoughby, Steven (Amy) Willoughby, Ann Marie (Chris) Combs, William “Kelly” (Dana) House; seven great-grandchildren, Nathaniel (Kelly) Willoughby, Kiera Combs, Aliza Willoughby, Ian Willoughby, Rory Willoughby, Macy House, Lexi House and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 72 years, Betty Jo Norris; brother, Harold Eugene Norris; sister, Anna Virginia Wisner and daughter in-laws, Katie Norris and Linda Norris. A private Family Celebration and Mass with interment will take place at a later date. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Vincent DePaul in Noblesville and/or the Disabled American Veterans in Robert’s memory.
