Verla K. Wright, 85, of Anderson, IN passed away on July 4, 2021 in Indianapolis, IN. Verla was born on August 23, 1935 in Noblesville, IN to Charles Leland and Mary Edith (Smith) Moore. She married the love of her life, Don Wright on April 19, 1958, and from this union they were blessed with two children, Dennis and Darcy. She graduated from Frankton Jr/Sr High School and she attended Ball State University where she received her bachelor’s degree in education. Verla then began working for Anderson Community Schools as a special education teacher. She retired from teaching after 24 years. Verla made her spiritual home at Columbus Avenue Church of Christ, where she was a faithful member for many years. Verla will be dearly missed by her children; her son-in-law, Curtis Jordan; her grandchildren, Tyler and Travis Jordan; her twin sister, Shirley DiRuzza; sister in-law, Nelma Moore; several nieces and nephews; and her special friends, Georgia Holden and Charles Lollar. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter-in-law, Lisa Wright; and her siblings, Barbara Paul, Michael Moore, and Vivian Hayes. A graveside ceremony will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, July 9, 2021 at Jones Cemetery in Yorktown with Pastor Gary Meeker officiating In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Verla’s name may be donated to the ALS Association or the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation. Verla and her family requested that there be absolutely no flowers at the cemetery.
