Valorus Joan Brumfield, 94, of New Castle and former Markleville resident passed away, February 4, 2024 at Henry Community Health.
She was born March 20, 1929 in Madison County, Indiana and was a longtime Markleville resident before moving to New Castle.
Valorus was a graduate of Markleville High School and retired from the Target Store in Anderson.
She was a member of Aletheia Fellowship Church in Anderson. Valorus enjoyed growing flowers and canning vegetables from her garden. She enjoyed collecting various knick knacks.
Survivors include her son, Gary Gene (Brenda) Brumfield of Arlington, Texas; seven grandchildren, Carmen, Kyndal, Angelina, Kaylee, Casey, Josh and Mya; five great grandchildren, Emma, Gunner, “Big D”, Lia and Sophia; sister, Marilyn; and four nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Ova (Boone) Scott; husband, R. Gene Brumfield; and a son, William J. “Bill” Brumfield.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Lahm Chapel, Pendleton.
A graveside service with burial following will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 7, 2024 in Harlan Cemetery, Hancock County with Pastor John Reynolds officiating.
