Mr. V. Ronald Huntzinger

Ronald Huntzinger, age 87, departed this world for a better one on Saturday,June 24, 2017. He is survived by his devoted wife, Rita (Freudenstein), to whom he was equally devoted; they were married for 65 years. In addition to his wife he is also survived by his brother, Warren (Nancy) Huntzinger and his five children: Rosalie (Ralph) Della Ratta, Jeffrey (Patty) Huntzinger, David Huntzinger, JoEllen (Charlie) Merrill and Dan (Vanessa) Huntzinger; eight grandchildren, Renee Della Ratta, Patrick Della Ratta, Kelly Huntzinger, Jody (Callahan) Wilson, Brock (Cait) Huntzinger, Brady Huntzinger, Ryan Merrill and Regan Merrill; 6 great grandchildren and 15 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Esther Huntzinger and his brothers, Neill Huntzinger and Wendell Huntzinger. Farming was his life’s work, and he excelled at it for over 40 years. He was also active in the National Corn Growers Association and served as president of the Indiana chapter and also as a director of the National Feed Grains Council in the 70’s. He and Rita enjoyed friendships with several other members of these groups and traveled with them on agricultural tours to several countries during those years. He was also a sports enthusiast and especially liked watching basketball and baseball and later in life took up the game of golf at the age of 65 and loved his outings with golf buddies. Spending time in Florida during the winter was something he relished, where more golf was in order. He enjoyed reading nonfiction, in particular biographies. He always had a zest for life and meeting new people. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Services will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 28th at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Fr. Daniel Shine officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers please feel free to make donations to St. Ambrose Catholic Church or the American Heart Association.
