Tommy “Tom” Borders, 69, of Anderson, passed away December 3, 2018 at Community Hospital Anderson. He was born June 7, 1949, in Anderson the son of Joseph and Zelda Borders. He retired from the Anderson Fire Department in January 2000 after 24 years of service which 12 were as deputy Chief. Tom held an Emergency Medical Technician license (EMT) for 22 years. Tom made many changes to EMS while he was in office including increasing the Paramedic program. He was instrumental in starting a third ambulance for the city. He participated in qualifying Anderson as a preceptor training area for St. Vincent Hospital Indianapolis and for state wide medics. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Beverly Borders; his daughters, Brandi (Tony) Crum and Stephani Borders; granddaughter’s, Katelyn Crum and Baylor Smith; several nieces and nephews. A gathering of family and friends will be 4-8 pm, Thursday at the Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory. He will be laid to rest at the Marion National Cemetery.
