Tommy David "Tom" Rogers, 67, Noblesville, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2014, at Saint Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital. He was born on June 29, 1947, in Paragould, Arkansas to Harvey and Doris (Burton) Rogers. He graduated from Lapel High School in 1965. Tommy retired as a machine repairman from the former Guide Lamp division of General Motors in Anderson after 34 years of employment. He was a member and trustee of the Prairie Baptist Church in rural Noblesville; he served as sexton of the Prairie Memorial Cemetery; and was a member of the U. A. W. Local 663. Tommy felt most at home in the woods and spent his free time camping and hunting at his property in Brown County. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Sandra (Highwood) Rogers; four children, Cari (husband, Robert) Carter of Danville, Paul Rogers of Anderson, Benjamin (wife, Leah) Rogers of Noblesville, and Michael (wife, Amanda) Rogers of Trafalgar; his parents, Harvey and Doris Rogers of Noblesville; one sister, Jane Shively of Noblesville; seven grandchildren, Devon Rogers, Zoe Rogers, Damon Rogers, Adalyn Riegler, David Rogers, Levi Tommy Rogers; and his best friend and hunting buddy, Charlie Campbell. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Sherry McDonald and Martha Blevins; and a grandson Desmond Rogers. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Friday, August 29, 2014, at Prairie Baptist Church in Noblesville with Pastor Stephen Passmore officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Memorial Cemetery, Noblesville. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday, August 28, 2014, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends, but the Brown County whitetail population can rest easier come hunting season.
