Thomas R Whetsel

Thomas R. Whetsel, 73, of Frankton, passed away Nov. 27, 2016 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. Thomas was born August 26, 1943, in Anderson, the son of the late Ira and Pearl (McFarland) Whetsel. He retired from Delphi in 2001 after 38 years of employment with General Motors. He enjoyed baseball games, fishing, woodworking, and woodcarving, a talent he used to build his own furniture. He was a life time member of the National Carvers Museum, South Suburban Chiselers and the NRA. His real passion was his family and family activities. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Joann Whetsel; daughters, Laura Whetsel of Frankton and Beth (Ron) Brown of Georgia; grandchildren, Thomas Cody “Booker” Bambrough and Samuel Thomas Whetsel; a niece, Patty McCord; and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ray; sister, Ruth; and several nieces and nephews. The family has chosen to have private services.
