Thomas D. Cain

Thomas D Cain, 85, of rural Wilkinson, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2017. He was born on August 29, 1932 in Jackson Township, the youngest son of Elmer and Amanda (Judge) Cain, and he was a lifelong Hancock County resident. Tom graduated from Charlottesville High School in 1950 then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. On November 19, 1955, he married Alice Anne Kiser of Maxwell. He farmed during his younger years and retired from Eli Lilly as a senior lab technician after 30+ years of service. He was a member of the Eastern Hancock School Board for two terms immediately following the consolidation and during the building of the current high school. The school was always a source of pride for him. Second only to his love for his family, was his love for Eastern Hancock sports. He loved following the young athletes as they matured from elementary through high school. Tom was also an IU basketball fan and a lifelong St Louis Cardinals baseball fan. Survivors include his three children, Shelley (Duane) Goe and Brian Cain of rural Wilkinson, and Andy (Stephanie) Cain of Indianapolis; six grandchildren, Grant and Laura Goe. and Joe, Charlie, Chloe, and Evie Cain; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and his wife, who passed away in 1990, Tom was preceded in death by his four brothers Max McCorkle, George McCorkle, Bill Cain, and Ken Cain; sister, Dorothy Wilfong; niece, Sandy Cain; and nephew, Mike Wilfong. There will be a private family viewing and graveside service at Tom’s request. Arrangements were entrusted to Condo & St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory.
