Theria G. Tompkins

Theria G. Tompkins, 95 of Shirley, Indiana passed away Thursday, October 1, 2020 in Greenfield, Indiana. She was born October 20, 1924 in Russell Co. Kentucky, the daughter of the late Oscar and Bethania (Zimmerman) Gadberry. Theria’s love was raising her family of eleven children. In her spare time, she spent many hours quilting, sewing, gardening and loved flowers. She never missed a calling at the funeral home when a loved one or a friend passed away, because she was a friend to all. She retired from Delco Remy in 1993, after 46 1/2 years of service. She was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Naomi, Kentucky and belonged to three Red Hat Society clubs, Shirley Historical Society and the Wilkinson/Kennard Brotherhood Sisterhood. She is survived by three daughters, Winifred Tharp of Michigan, Georgiana Childress of Greenfield; Virginia Redmon of Shirley; three sons, Laramie Tompkins of Indianapolis; Anthony (Rhonda) Tompkins of Shirley; and Theodore Tompkins of Markleville, twenty nine grandchildren, forty five great grandchildren, and twenty two great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Tompkins; four sons; Herbert, Darwin, Robert and Randy Tompkins, daughter; Estelle McDonald, six sisters, four brothers, several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at Condo & St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, 130 S. Main St., Wilkinson, Indiana. Burial will follow at McCray Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 Monday evening, October 5, 2020 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Suburban Hospice 801 N. State St., Greenfield, IN. 46140 Due to recent COVID-19 mandates, all guests are required to wear face coverings or masks and practice social distancing at visitation and services.
