Suzzanne Lagina “Gina” Skinner

November 25, 1963 — September 3, 2022

Suzzanne LaGina Skinner, 58, passed away on September 3, 2022 at her home in Anderson. Gina was born on November 25, 1963 to Albert G. Skinner & Phyllis Sue VanLandingham Skinner, in Anderson.

After graduation from Anderson High School in 1981 she continued her studies at Ball State University, majoring in business.  During her 2nd year at Ball State she gave birther to her daughter, SuZi Schweitzer.  Upon completion of her studies at Ball, she secured a management position with Associates Financial. She was a fixer; they sent her to troubled offices to get rid of problems. While working there in 1989, she gave birth to her son, Albert Bubba Schweitzer. Gina’s last position with that company was in Madison, Wisconsin.  At that time, she requested a position back in the Anderson area.

While waiting for an opening she helped with Rush Office, a real game changer in 1992. She made several improvements, wrote manuals, and trained new employees. She decided to change careers when offered the position of Director of Operations in 1993. She opened new franchises and trained personnel for 10 offices all in Indiana. In 2008 it was converted to Snelling Offices, where Gina remained, and her duties changed accordingly. In July 2017 as Snelling was having great difficulties nationally, the discussion was made to switch back to Rush if Gina could handle full responsibility for payroll, taxes, and finding a computer program that fit all aspects of their business. It was a huge challenge that she accepted and won! During her first years at Rush, David Sharp walked in, starting what would become a 30 year relationship with Gina.  He brought with him a delightful 8-year-old Megan, who became a sister to Susi & Bub.

In 2020 she was forced to go on oxygen but she refused to give up.  She continued to work at night, handling all her duties.

Gina loved her pets, Maggie, Chief, Cujo, Max, Tommy, Theo, etc. She was adventurous having rafted down the Colorado rapids, horse riding in the mountains, parasailing, water skiing, bungee jumping, scuba diving, and losing her grandmother in Florence, on purpose.

Gina was preceded in death by dad, Albert G. Skinner; brothers, Albert Wayne Skinner, Albert Ray Skinner; stepdaughter, Megan Sharp; grandparents, Robert VanLandingham, Marjorie & Doc Welborn, Albert W. & Lena Skinner; uncle, Steve VanLandingham; several aunts, uncles, and cousins who were there to welcome Gina into Heaven.

She is survived by her partner of 30 years, Dave Sharp; son, Albert “Bubba” Schweitzer; daughter & son-in-law, SuZi & Chris Taylor; granddaughter, SuVannah Skye Hess; brother & sister-in-law, Albert “Tony” & Mary Ann Skinner; sister, SuLynn “Creep”Ruggles; sister-in-law, Avise Skinner; mother, Sue (VanLandingham) Skinner; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, & nephews.

Visitation will be from 10 am to 4pm Saturday, September 10, at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory. A Celebration of Life will be held at 4pm, officiated by Pastor Don Billey, giving anyone a chance to speak about their experiences with Gina.
