Shirley Joanne Hulse

Shirley Joanne (Wood) Hulse, 84, passed away on October 6, 2022 at Northview Health & Living Center in Anderson.  She was born on September 4, 1938 in Anderson to the late Clayton and Mary (Carmody) Wood.

Shirley retired from the Anderson Police Department as an administrative assistant.  Prior to working at the Police Department, she had worked at the Anderson Government Center in the Probate Division.  Shirley was a member of the Anderson Country Club.  She was an avid Democrat and organized various fund raisers for organizations.  She was an avid golfer enjoyed traveling and loved the ocean.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Tom Hulse of Anderson; children, John Hulse of Anderson, Greg (Joanne) Hulse of Plainfield, Kristina (John) Betts of Anderson, Susan (Brian) Hampton of Anderson; grandchildren, Jessica (Bradley) Glick, Andrea (Nathan) Sneed, Justin (Kimberly) Hampton, Ian Betts, Zoey (fiancé, Teddy) Betts; great grandchildren, Lily, Gabby, Elias, Myles, Gwen, Macy, Jera; brother, David (June) Wood and several nieces and nephews.  Also surviving are her friends of the Anderson Country Club Lady’s Golf and her Florida Beach Besties.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, and her infant brother, Clifton Wood.

Services will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 pm at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, 515 E. 53^rd St., Anderson, IN 46013 with burial at East Maplewood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 pm prior to the service.
