Shirley A. Johnson

Shirley A. Johnson, 82, of Anderson, passed away on November 29, 2023.  Shirley was born on September 10, 1941 in Owensburg, IN to the late John and Dorothy (Sons) Kirk.

She was married to her loving husband James “Jim” Johnson for 29 years.  Shirley really enjoyed reading the several books that she had, watching movies, sewing, gardening in her flower beds, and doing Numbrix puzzles. Shirley especially enjoyed making her homemade apple butter and large Reese cups for her family.  She always loved to go to Goodwill on Senior Citizens Day.  But most of all, Shirley loved her family more than anything in this world.

Shirley will be missed by her husband, Jim Johnson; children, Ralph Owens, Lorei (Mark) Sloan, James Johnson II, Lori (Tony) Gill; sister, Linda (Mike) Shaw; 13 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Russell O. Owens; daughter, Anita “Joei” Van Alst; brothers, John Kirk, Larry Kimbrel, and Fred Adams, and sister, Barbara Warner.

The visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, 515 E. 53^rd St., Anderson, IN, 46013.  The funeral service will be at 1:00 Pm at the funeral home.  Burial will be at East Maplewood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
