A devoted mother, loving ma'am, and cherished friend, Sheryn Ann Franklin passed away peacefully on December 29th at the age of 79 surrounded by her loving family. On December 25, 1945, on a day in which lots of boys were born in Anderson, Indiana, Sheryn was the first girl born that Christmas at St. John's Hospital. She was an exceptional cook, always filling her home with the aroma of her famous bread, and spoiling her loved ones with the most amazing fudge. Ma'am had the best sense of humor, and was always considered a funny person, spreading smiles and laughter to everyone she knew, and displayed an unwavering love for her family.
A graduate of Anderson High School, Sheryn later pursued different career paths ranging from Delco-Remy as a line worker, to a teller at the Southdale Branch First National Bank. She was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star, OES #110 in Middletown, Indiana, and was a longtime member at Whetstone Church. In her freetime, she enjoyed crocheting and making bracelets for her great-grandchildren.
Sheryn is survived by her children, Nicola Ann (Darrin) Rutherford, Heather Dawne Young, and Nancy Lorelei (Lloyd) Graves; sister, Nancy Kisling; grandchildren, Andrew Thomas (Angela) Rutherford, Sarah Kaleigh Rutherford, Tyler Scott Rutherford, Sheryn Kathalyn Young, Isabella Zoey Dean, Chase K-Ro Young, Gavin Anthony James Shuck, and Sadie Maryn Grace Graves; great grandchildren, Jancy, Bailey, Gracie, Lelah, Jalon, Onyx, Emma, Emmaline, and Keeland; nephews Joshua and Chase; and niece Meghan.Sheryn loved many people and was loved by many, including all of her friends on social media.
Sheryn's visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Bozell Funeral Homes, Brown-Butz-Diedring Chapel, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson, Indiana 46013. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm at the funeral home, with Pastors Rob Lowery and Steve Gettinger. We know that she will be deeply missed by all that knew her, but it was important for Sheryn that any gathering be a joyous occasion sharing fond memories and stories amongst everyone that got to know and love her as much as her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Opel Thomas and Orpha Edith (Cobb) Young, her brother, Dallas Eugene Young, and most recently her beloved parakeet, Kaneki.
It was her wish that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made out to either Riley Children's Hospital or St. Jude, as Sheryn actively donated to both of these organizations where her generosity and compassion touched many lives.
The family will be having a celebration of life in the near future that will be determined at a later date.
