Sarah M. Erwin

Sarah M. Erwin, 83, Lapel, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2011, at Maple Park Village in Westfield following an extended illness. She was born on September 11, 1928, in Anderson, Indiana to Glenn and Agnes (Veach) Garrett. Sarah retired in 1979 from the former Delco Remy division of General Motors in Anderson after 24 years of employment. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapel, the Lida Teeters Circle, and the Lapel Lady Lions She is survived by two sons, Bob (wife, Carrie) Erwin of Lapel and Dale (wife, Margaret) Erwin of Noblesville; four grandchildren, Lynn Ann Mummert (fiance Chris Kahler) of Lancaster, CA, John (wife, Chris) Erwin of Daleville, Stacy (husband, Brad) Austin of Summitville, and Brian (wife, Amy ) Erwin of Greenfield; nine great-grandchildren, Amanda Mummert (fiance, Kyle Anixter), Jessica (husband, Thomas) Murphy, Sean and Josh Erwin, Ian, Clare, and Eryn Erwin, and Brantly Austin, and Kasey (husband, Wade) Sigler; two great-great-grandsons, Bryson and Brayden Sigler; and a sister-in-law, Hazel Garrett of Greenfield. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clifford "Bud" Erwin; a son, David Erwin; and a brother Ralph Garrett. The family would like to thank Joan Pape, Kasey Sigler, Susan Metzger, Mary Filbrun, Tracy Deuberry, Peggy Berling, Diane and Jerry Thompson the Maple Park Village Staff and the St. Vincent's Hospice for their kindness to their mother. A funeral service will be held at 12:30 pm Tuesday, December 13, 2011, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Pastor Doug Barton officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm Tuesday, December 13, 2011, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
