Sandra Sue (Ridgeway) Hersberger, 81, Winchester, went to be with the Lord Thursday, January 7, 2021, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.She was born on November 9, 1939, in Noblesville to Gerald and Mary (Castetter) Ridgeway.Sue was graduated with a teaching degree from the former Ball State Teachers College.She retired in 1994 from Lapel Jr. Sr. High School after teaching English for over 40 years. Sue then switched to teaching Elementary Library in 1997 at Jay School Corporation and retired again in 2005. She had dedicated many years educating young minds. After retiring she loved spending the extra time with her family.Sue enjoyed bowling for many years until her health wouldnt allow her to do so. She also enjoyed working crossword and jigsaw puzzles and was an avid reader.She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Swingley (fianc, Doug); two granddaughters, Lysandra (Matt) Caldwell and Layne Swingley (fianc, Ethan); one great-granddaughter, Hazyn Caldwell; one step-son, Greg (Diana) Hersberger; four step-granddaughters, Michelle (Shane) Babbitt, Rene Hersberger, Carla (Joel) Walker, and Hillary (John) Brunnemer; eleven step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Joe (Charlotte) Ridgeway; one brother-in-law, Jerry Wagner; one sister-in-law, Judy Ridgeway; and several nieces and nephews.Sue was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John David Hersberger; her sister, Linda Wagner; two brothers, Loren Earl and Dale Ridgeway; a niece Brenda Wagner Florea; and a nephew, David Earl Ridgeway.A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm on Monday, January 11, 2021, at Hersberger-Bozell Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel with Pastor Taylor Bradbury officiating.
Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Monday, January 11, 2021, at the funeral home.
An additional visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at the Clear Creek Congregational Christian Church, 5016 U. S. 26, Winchester and a memorial service will follow with Pastor Taylor Bradbury officiating.
Health precautions for the safety of the family will include wearing facial coverings and social distancing at all times.
