Sandra D. Karkosky

December 21, 1953 — April 5, 2025

Pendleton

Sandra D. Karkosky, 71, of Pendleton, went home to be with the Lord on April 5, 2025 surrounded by her family in the comfort of her own home after a brief illness. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, and a woman of unwavering faith.

Born on December 21, 1953, Sandy's life was a testament to love, service, and faithfulness. She was a long time member of the Anderson First Church of the Nazarene, and currently a member of the Eastview Church of the Nazarene. A gifted pianist, she began playing in church at the age of 12, using her talent for just shy of 60 years to glorify God and bless those around her. She had a true servant's heart, always seeking to care for others, and that calling led her to become a foster mother to 68 babies over the years, pouring out love and kindness to every child who came into their home. It was not uncommon to see her effortlessly manage 4 young children of her own plus 2-3 foster babies at a time.

With a heart that continually wanted to help others, Sandy poured her life into the medical field as a dedicated respiratory therapist and registered polysomnographer for 21 years at Community Hospital in Anderson, IN. It was fitting that this hospital also beautifully provided her care during her recent illness.

Sandy cherished her role as a pastor's wife. She was a passionate prayer warrior, known for her steadfast faith and her deep commitment to interceding for others in prayer. Her greatest joy in life was her family, and she loved her grandchildren with all her heart, cherishing every moment spent with them. She had a special ability to make everyone of them feel like her favorite!

She is survived by her loving husband, Ron Karkosky, of 52 years; her children, Amber (Chad) Karkosky-Litten, Andrew (Lindsey) Karkosky, Abby (Brian) Schnepp, and Akara (Jeremy Adams) Karkosky; her beloved grandchildren, Myranda, Brayden, Makenna, McKale, Reis, Max, Ava, Marlee, Maddy, Grey, Trystan, Jack, and Harper; her mother, Mattie Hayes; her sister, Sharon (Don Hertzinger) Miller; and her brother, David (Shelly) Hayes. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who she cherished deeply.

Sandy was preceded in death by her father, Jack W. Hayes and mother -in- law, Alice L. Karkosky.

Sandy's life was a beautiful reflection of God's love, and her legacy of faith and service will live on in the countless lives she touched.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at Eastview Church of the Nazarene, 2552 E. 200 S. Anderson, IN 46017, with her daughter Rev. Dr. Amber Karkosky-Litten officiating. Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery, Anderson, IN.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the church on Tuesday, and 1 hr prior to the Wednesday Service.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Eastview Church of the Nazarene.
