Sallye Ann Highsmith

Sallye Ann Highsmith, 89, of Anderson passed away on November 3, 2024 at her home, surrounded by her family. Sallye was born on February 19, 1935 in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas to the late Hubert and Eva Jewel (McMullin) Campbell. She married Tom Murphy and subsequently had two children, Danny and Patrick. Later, she married her loving husband, Bob Highsmith, and the two were married for many years before his passing. After graduating from high school, she began working as a librarian and actually worked as a librarian in 3 different states. She attended First Baptist Church in Anderson with her sister, Sheila. She was also a member of the Women's Auxiliary in American Legion Post 127. Sallye loved to play Euchre, shuffleboard, and different card games. She was an avid reader, collected owls and had such a giving heart.

Sallye will be dearly missed by her sons, Danny (Joy) Murphy and Patrick Murphy; grandchild, Devin Murphy; brother, Bob Campbell; sister, Sheila Martin; nephews, Kevin Smith, Blake Smith, and Darren Martin; and previous husband, Tom Murphy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob Highsmith; and sisters, Jean Stanzoni, Patsy Blackshear, and Carol Zimmerman.

The visitiaton will be from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM, Friday, November 8, 2024, at Bozell Funeral Homes-Brown-Butz-Diedring Chapel, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson, IN 46013. The funeral ceremony will begin at 2:30 PM at the funeral home. Sallye's services have been entrusted to Bozell Funeral Homes.
