Sallie B. Scott, 69, Lapel, passed away Monday, December 22, 2008, at Community Hospital of Anderson following two-and-a-half-year battle with breast cancer.
She was born on May 6, 1939, in Celina, Tennessee to Willie and Ruth (West) Brown.
She graduated from Lapel High School in 1957.
Sallie retired in 2007 as manager of the Lapel Branch of Community Bank.
She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church; the Lapel Community Association and served on the selection committee for the Fred St. John Memorial Scholarship at the South Madison Community Foundation
She is survived by two daughters, Kelli (husband, Alan) Bays of Anderson, and Melanie Corbin of Lapel; two sisters, Peggy (husband, Don) Campbell and Sue Cook, both of Anderson; four grandsons, Brett and Seth Bays, Logan Borders, and Cole Corbin; five nieces and nephews, Donna Hamilton, Rick Presser, Kevin Presser, Kyle Campbell, and Jeri Wilson; five great-nieces; and three great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Donald Brown.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, December 27, 2008, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Neal Butcher officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday, December 26, 2008, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
