Rufus Edward Wasson, 78, passed away on October 15, 2019 at Community Hospital, Anderson. He was born on December 21, 1940 in Georgetown, Kentucky to the late Ralph L. and Mary E. (Sargent) Wasson. Rufus retired from Delco Remy after 34 years of service. He served his country in the United States Marine Corp. He was a Kentucky Colonel, and a Deputy Sheriff for the Chesterfield Police Department. He was a lifetime member of the 40/8, VFW and HCVVO. He was also a member of the Chesterfield American Legion. Rufus loved his family and his country. He is survived by the love of his life, Patti Latz; children, Lynda (Brett) Wasson-Norrick, Lisa Coppess, Joe Wasson, Jed (Becky) Wasson; brother, Jim (Kathy) Wasson; special family, Cyndi and Ronnie Roberson; 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Rufus was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Garry Wasson; son, Donnie Wasson and grandson, Donnie Wasson Jr. Services will be on Saturday at 2:00 pm at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson, IN 46013. Cremation will take place. Visitation will be on Saturday from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Madison County Humane Society.
