Roy E. Davis, 98, of Anderson, passed away June 6, 2016 after a brief illness.
He was born in Anderson on September 22, 1917 to the late Cleo and Ruth Mae (Shrout) Davis and had resided in Anderson all of his life. He was a manufacturer’s representative and a residential architect.
Roy was a member of Cross Roads United Methodist Church and enjoyed fishing, was an avid story writer and Indianapolis Colts fan.
He was in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII serving in England and France. He participated in the Honor Flight on April 4, 2015 along with over 200 Indiana veterans.
He is survived by daughter, Rhea Minnick (Joe) of Anderson; daughter, Teresa Lohrey (Mike) of Middletown; son, Steven Davis (Mary K.) of Denver, N.C.; grandchildren, Jennifer Shankman, Megan Camp, Courtney Vilcek, Matthew Davis, Kyle Minnick, Kurt Minnick and Ryan Lohrey; and twelve great grandchildren; sister, Nellie James of Anderson and brother, June Davis of Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Georgianna (Maddy) Davis; sisters, Helen, Martha, Dolly and Gracie; and brothers, Theodore and Ora.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Rev. John Hackney officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by V.F.W. Post 266 Honor Guard.
Visitation will be 11:00-1:00 Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Operations Comfort Warrior or the American Cancer Society.
