Rosemary Szumilas, 84, of Lexington, S.C. and formerly of Anderson, passed away April 13, 2017 after a brief illness. She was born in Beech Grove, IN on May 12, 1932 to the late Eugene and Evelyn (Schilling) Gohmann and had lived in Anderson since 1965 before moving to Lexington, S.C. She graduated from St. Agnes Academy in Indianapolis and St. Mary’s College, Notre Dame. Rosemary worked as a nurse for many years and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She was active in St. John’s Victoria Guild, the Anderson Fine Art Center and many local charities. She is survived by her two daughters, Suzanne Kucharczyk of Fishers, IN and Peggy (husband, Donnie) Moore of Lexington, S.C.; three grandchildren, Megan (husband, Cory) Lyons, Katherine Anne Kucharczyk (husband Ben Megennis) and Chris Kucharczyk. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dr. Peter Szumilas, daughter, Anne Szumilas, son-in-law, Vincent Kucharczyk; and step mother, Janet Gohmann. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Calvary Cemetery in Indianapolis. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. on Monday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory. Please donate to your favorite local charity in lieu of flowers.
