Rev. Robert Wood

Reverend Robert G. Wood, 91, passed away Monday, February 22, 2021. He was born July 30, 1929, in Winfield, Alabama to the late Grover C. & Vertie (Box) Wood. Robert pastored in churches in Michigan, Indiana, and Georgia. He had been an active member of Southern Heights Christian Church. He was known as the “Guitar Man” having played and repaired guitars. Robert is survived by his children, Sue (husband, Jeff) Merritt, Robert (wife, Judy) Wood, Sandra (husband, Steve) Schmollinger, & Mark (wife, Christy) Wood; sister, Dorothy Gibson; grandchildren, Robert Cruz, Jennifer Alexander, Ryan Schmollinger, Matthew Wood, Bryce Schmollinger, Leah & Hannah Wood; great grandchildren, Austin & Isaiah Cruz, Alaina Willis, Jackson & Brady Alexander; great-great grandchildren, Leilani & Daniella Santana, Logan & Francis Cruz, and one on the way. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 70 years, Tommie L. (Abbott) Wood; siblings, James Hoyt Wood & Richard Allen Wood; and granddaughter, Danielle Cruz. Private services were entrusted to Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, with his good friend, Reverend Bob Hendrickson officiating. Burial will be at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
