PENDLETON- Robert W. “Bob” Ledbetter, 89 of Carmel and former longtime Pendleton resident passed away April 9, 2020.He was born August 11, 1930 in Anderson, Indiana and was a Pendleton resident most of his life. Bob grew up in Lapel and attended Lapel High School (Class of 1949).Bob retired from General Motors in Anderson following 30 years of service as well as being employed at various other businesses through the years including The Flower Cart, Clancy’s Restaurant, Hardee’s Restaurant, as a custodian for South Madison Community Schools, lawn care for the funeral home as well as operating a blade sharpening and locksmithing service.He was a United States Navy Korean War veteran.Bob was a member of Pendleton Christian Church, United Auto Workers Union Local 662, Fortville American Legion Post 391, Pendleton Garden Club, Pendleton Circuit Breakers, Madison County Emergency Management Agency and Middletown Conservation Club. He was also a volunteer during Pendleton’s Grand Prix races.He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Helen Ledbetter; infant daughter, Georganna Ledbetter; and great granddaughter, Payton Harrison.Survivors include his wife, Janet Sue (Hershman) Ledbetter of 65 years whom he married, June 19, 1954 in Noblesville; sons, Reed C. Ledbetter (Diana) of Goshen and Wesley S. (Kim) Ledbetter of Indianapolis; daughter, Karyn L. Ledbetter of Pendleton; eight grandchildren, Brandy, Andrea, Adam, Josh, Alex, Tanna, Brandon and Danielle; and 13 great grandchildren.A private graveside and burial will take place at Grove Lawn Cemetery in Pendleton with Reverend Michael Canada officiating. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date, once Covid-19 pandemic restrictions are lifted.Service arrangements entrusted to Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Lahm Chapel, 211 E.
