Robert G. Milliner Sr., 92 of Lapel, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2024, surrounded by his loving family, after a sudden illness.
He was born on September 21, 1931, in Greenfield, Indiana, to Jesse G. and Helen B. (Warrum) Milliner. He graduated from Anderson High School. He was a maintenance supervisor for Brockway Glass.
Bob selflessly served his country as a US Marine in the Korean War. He received a Purple Heart after being wounded in action in April 1953. He received a Gold Star in lieu of a second Purple Heart after being wounded in action for a second time.
He was an avid woodworker and created many priceless heirlooms for his beloved family. To say he enjoyed camping and fishing would be an understatement. Bob cherished his travels with Virginia in their motor home, where they would winter in Arizona. He also attended Daybreak church, where he was proudly baptized.
Robert Milliner lived by example. He always stood by what was right and did good. He had the ability to inspire those around him to be better. He was the epitome of a good man, adoring husband, an amazing father, and a loving and involved grandfather.
Bob, Dad, Grandpa, we salute you.
Bob is survived by two children, Doug (Debbie) Milliner and Darla (Rick) Busby; siblings, JoAnn Cheever, Trenda (Ronald) Bilbrey, and Gary Milliner; three grandchildren, Kelsie (Andy) Barva, Ryan (Lauren) Busby, and Wesley (Kortney) Busby.
