Robert Michael 'Mike' Gilman

Robert Michael "Mike" Gilman, 79, of Alexandria, passed away on Saturday February 05, 2022, at his residence. He was born on October 17, 1942, to Robert and Emma Kathryn (Crouse) Gilman.
Mike spent most of his life in Summitville, Indiana. He graduated from Summitville High Scholl in 1960. He later married his high school sweetheart, Linda Armstrong, on December 28, 1963, and they raised three sons. She preceded him in death.
He worked at Delco Remy for several years before becoming a driver for Central Transport Trucking from where he retired.
Mike and Linda retired to Lehigh Acres, Florida where they enjoyed many years together in the Florida sunshine. Mike enjoyed watching all sports. He was a loyal Indianapolis Colts and Cincinnati Reds fan. Before retiring to Florida, Mike and Linda enjoyed spending time with family and friends at Sechrist Lake in Northern Indiana for many summers.
Mike is survived by his three sons, Tim (partner Dawn) Gilman of Summitville, Toby (Tina) Gilman of Summitville, and Trent (Dana) Gilman of Winneconne, WI; six grandchildren, Tyler (Amber) Gilman, Lindsey (Grant) Idlewine, Wade (Lauren) Gilman, Matthew (Kerri) Gilman, Jacob Gilman and Abigail Gilman; nine great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Leon (Janice) Armstrong and David (Nancy) Lewis; special cousin Linda (Lance) Warriner; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Mike was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Herb Wehsollek; granddaughter, Brianna Gilman; his in-laws, Beulah and Francis "Pete" Armstrong; sister-in-law, Sharon Lewis; and special aunt and Uncle, Bob and Beanie Davis.
There will be no visitation or public services for Mike. There will be a private family inurnment at a later date.
Hersberger-Bozell Funeral Home in Lapel has been entrusted with his care.
