Robert M. Bourke, 63, Lapel, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2007, at Community Hospital of Anderson following a sudden illness.
He was born on May 8, 1943, in Corvallis, Oregon to Ned and Virginia (Marshall) Bourke.
He graduated from Lapel High School in 1961 and attended Purdue University. He served in the U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.
Robert was retired from Standard Lock Nut in Westfield and held a masters degree from Marc Adams School of Woodworking.
He was a member of the former Lapel Jubilee Chorus.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Laurie (Campbell) Bourke; two sons, Destry (wife, Lynley) Bourke of Lapel and Jade (wife, Bertha) Bourke of Woodland, Wash.; two granddaughters, Sabrina Bourke and Olivia Bourke; his mother, Virginia Bourke of Noblesville; four brothers Donald (wife, Linda) Bourke of Hepzebah, GA, Kenneth (wife, Kim) Bourke of Anderson, Mike Bourke of Santiago, Chile; and Dwayne (wife, Patti) Bourke of Noblesville; two sisters, Nedra (husband, Richard) Zeiss of Mulberry and Saundra Bourke of Terre Haute. .
He was preceded in death by his father Ned Uzziel Bourke.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Evan Lash officiating.
Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the time of the service Tuesday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
