Robert L. Wilson

Robert L. "Bob" Wilson, 88, Lapel, passed away Sunday, October 8, 2017, at Bethany Pointe Health Campus in Anderson following a brief illness.He was born on June 26, 1929, in Green Township of Madison County to Guy and Vivian (Whitlock) Wilson.Bob was graduated from Lapel High School in 1947 and attended Butler University for a year before joining the army.He returned from serving in the U. S. Army as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean War to engage in farming his family farm.Bob was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Lapel, the Lapel Lions Club and was a Melvin Jones Fellow. He was also a member of the Lapel American Legion Post 212. He had served as Stony Creek Township Trustee for many years. He built many summer memories enjoying time with his family at their lake home on Lake Webster since 1975. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Carolyn (Rich); four children, Steve (wife, Pam) Wilson of Lapel and their children, Brett, Kelly, and Felicia; Mike (wife, Judy) Wilson of North Webster and their children, R. J., Monica, Andrew, Alexis, and Destiny; Angie (husband, Jimmie) Howell of Lapel and their children, Jennifer, Courtney, and J. R.; and Lisa (husband, Jeff) Johnson of Lapel and their children, Stacy and Todd; eleven great-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Dick Wilson.Bob was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Kenny and Richard Wilson; and his sisters-in-law, Emma Jean Whetsel and Belle Cook.A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 13, 2017, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel, Indiana with Pastors Dewey Miller and Mike Lyon officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery where the Lapel American Legion will conduct military graveside rites.Visitation will be from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM Thursday, October 12, 2017, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.Memorial contributions may be made to the Lapel Lions Club, P. O. Box 488, Lapel, Indiana 46051-0488; or Trinity United Methodist Church, P. O.
