Robert L. Light, 83, Lapel, passed away Tuesday December 31, 2002, at his residence following an extended illness. He was born on December 14, 1919, in Thebes, Illinois to Wilson and Eunice (Brown) Light.. He was a World War II Army veteran and retired in 1994 after owning and operating Light's Garage in Lapel for 28 years. He attended Trinity United Methodist Church, a life member of Lapel American Legion Post 212 and a retired member of the Pipe Fitters Union. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine (Balser) Light ; one son, Robert (wife, Sue) Light, Jr. of Harvest, AL; a step-son, Curt (wife, Sheila) Balser of Lapel; two grandchildren, Robert C. (wife, Kimberly) Light and Laura Light; two step-grandchildren, Jacinda (husband, Jeff) McClintock and A. J. (wife, Amy) Balser; and three great-grandchildren, Tommy Brock, Ryan Brock, and Andrew Light. Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Evan Lash officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside Cemetery in Lapel where the Lapel American Legion Post 212 will perform military graveside rites. Friends may call from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, P. O.
